You may have noticed that almost all the skincare products you own happen to have a flower of some sort added to the ingredient list. If you’ve ever wondered why, it’s not simply because flowers smell amazing, it’s because they have properties that are beneficial to your skin in different ways.

It’s almost wedding season and if you’re getting geared up to either get married or attend a wedding, you may want to try these beauty goods out to make sure your skin is flawless on the big day. In this article, we’ll go over the different ways you can incorporate flowers in your skincare products and regime without having to shell out bucks on creams and scrubs that are likely packed with chemicals you don’t want anywhere near your skin. Let’s get started!

Floral Scrubs

Everyone knows that scrubs are by far the easiest DIY skincare product to make at home because you needn’t invest in any ingredient that isn’t already in your home. Though homemade scrubs are good enough to do the job by themselves, you can also add flower petals to make sure your skin gets that added benefit of floral power.

One of the most loved DIY scrubs is the rose scrub. All you will need is some sugar, dried rose petals, and coconut oil. If you happen to have a few roses in your garden or have an old bouquet of dried flowers, then all you need to do is put them to good use in this method. If you don’t have a flower garden, you can always buy beautiful summer flowers from online floral stores like Bouqs.

Now for the process of making the scrub, simply begin by tossing your dried petals in a food processor until they’re ground into smaller flakes. Then, depending on how many crushed petals you have, you can add adequate quantities of sugar and coconut oil until you bring it to a nice scrub-like consistency. Additionally, you can go the extra mile and add some essential oils to add some fragrance to your mix. And just like that, you’ve got your very own homemade Rose scrub!

Floral Mask

Face masks are used by all brides before a wedding. The best part is there’s no correct way to make a homemade mask, as any ingredient that’s good for your skin can be added to the mask. This is also a great way to incorporate various flowers into your masks. Here are some examples of the kinds of masks you can try at home.

The turmeric and curd mask: This one’s definitely something you’ve heard before. While the curd helps nourish and hydrate tired skin, turmeric helps add a glow to the face by also preventing pimples and blemishes. You can either add crushed hibiscus or rose petals to this mix to give it more benefits.

The oats and honey mask: This mask focuses on making your skin softer, smoother, and clearer, and the medicinal properties found in honey helps heal scars while the oats act as a mild scrub that removes dead cells on the face. Also, adding flowers like rose, hibiscus, chamomile, and lavender can be used in this method.

To make it, begin by adding the flowers of your preference along with a cup of oats to the food processor. Then add two teaspoons of honey and blend it all together to form a paste. You can either make it really smooth and apply it as a mask, or you can allow the mixture to be a little rough if you wish to use it as a scrub too. Additionally, the mask can be a little thick to apply as it contains only honey. If you want a smooth application, you can squeeze in half a lemon to make the consistency of the mixture easier to apply.

Do remember to avoid lemon if your skin is sensitive. In this case, you can go for either rose water or curd, or if both of these are unavailable, you can always add a few drops of clean water into the mixture.

Hair Care

This one doesn’t require much effort. If you wish to deep-condition your hair, heat a liberal amount of coconut oil with the crushed petals of your choice. Then apply this to your hair for a couple of hours before washing it off. You may also add the flowers to apple cider vinegar and water if you wish to cleanse your hair with vinegar.
