Meet Our Designers
Designer: Jenny Yoo
When I was a Bridesmaid in a friend's wedding and we had tried on countless dresses and it was so difficult to find anything that was flattering for all the different members of the bridal party. I quickly realized that there was an absence of figure flattering, well-constructed bridesmaid dresses in the market. I had been working as a designer at Ann Taylor for several years and I had also noticed that many bridesmaids were looking to shop in stores such as Ann Taylor and department stores in search of bridesmaid dresses and that is when it clicked to create a collection of Bridesmaid Dresses that was re-wearable as well as flattering for all different body types.
There are so many elements to being a bridal designer that I enjoy but when I am able to transform one of my sketches into a draped muslin form that is when the magic happens. It is from there that the true creative process takes over and in many cases the dress changes from my original vision. I find new ways to enhance the dress and improvise with different sewing, embellishment techniques, or mixing and layering fabrics together. I love the unexpected surprise that a style transforms into and then seeing the end product on a beautiful Bride on her wedding day! It is such an honor for me to be able to be a part of such an important day for our Brides!
To choose a gown that you feel comfortable, beautiful and confident in so that you can enjoy the special occasion. There is nothing worse than fretting over whether you can dance easily and feeling self- conscious in your dress. The way you feel translates how you carry yourself in your gown.
To remember that being a bridesmaid is a commitment, but it is also an honor. There are probably numerous points of stress for the bride, from travel logistics for guests to appeasing a volatile mother-in- law. She has a lot on her mind: Be her rock by staying calm, patient and most of all, supportive.
John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette. One of the things I love about this wedding is how intimate it feels. It’s not over-the-top in any way. Just simple. Bessette’s entire wedding look mimics her everyday style: chic, understated, and effortless which is very in line with my style and aesthetics.
Take time to plan and enjoy the process! Make sure that your wedding is a reflection of you as a couple and not feeling the pressure to please everyone else. Get a clear picture in your mind of what you both want and really think about what makes your perfect day.
